Andy Payton is an artist based out of Ventura County. As a child, he learned to draw from his mother and used these skills to create elaborate movie sets for full length home films. Andy graduated from UC Santa Barbara, became a teacher, and later moved to Virginia. Art would not come back into Andy's life until several dozen snow days would give him the time to start painting again.
During the day, Andy runs a retail coffee business and uses acrylic painting to unwind at night. As an avid surfer and sailor, Andy uses popular local surf spots as inspiration for his beautiful water scenes. The mountain ranges he chooses are those drawn from local hikes and his time completing the 210 mile John Muir Trail. Andy's style is a mix of modern impressionism and abstract art designed to create the feel that only the west coast can bring.
